The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has suspended the licence of the private jet operator, Mattini Airline Services Limited, whose aircraft overshot the runway on Friday, January 26, at Ibadan airport. The private jet was conveying 10 persons when it overshot the runway, as firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, were immediately deployed to the scene. The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has raised the exchange rate for cargo clearance from N952 per dollar to N1.356 per dollar. Alabama in the United States, US, has executed a convicted murderer, Kenneth Eugene Smith with nitrogen gas. This is the first time the method of capital punishment has been used globally. 58-year-old Smith lost two final appeals to the US Supreme Court and one to a US federal appeals court, arguing the execution was a cruel and unusual punishment.
