Ekiti State government has directed Hospitals in the state to receive victims of gunshots for immediate treatment without obtaining a police report. The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Oyebanji Filani, announced this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Monday, October 30. The Federal Government on Tuesday, October 24, introduced the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine, HPV, into the routine immunization system. The vaccination targets more than seven million girls, which is the largest number in a single round of HPV vaccination in the African region. The government of Lagos State has closed down a private hospital at Ago-Okota in the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of the state after it said the hospital transfuses unsafe blood to patients. Executive secretary of the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service, LSBTS, Bodunrin Osikomaiya, said the hospital was shut down in collaboration with the state Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, HEFAMAA.
