Forbes has listed some Nigerians among the billionaire businessmen and philanthropists rating in its billionaires list in the World.
In its latest comprehensive list of the world’s billionaires for 2023, Forbes named 2,460 individual billionaires from across the globe.
Nigeria has a good number of wealthy men both within the country and across the African continent. These men have amassed their wealth through business ventures.
Below is a list of the ten richest men in Nigeria and their net worth.
Topping the list is Aliko Dangote. He is the president of a Nigerian multinational industrial conglomerate, Dangote group. His source of wealth is through cement and beverages production, auto manufacturing, and fertilizer production.
He is the founder and chairman of Africa’s largest cement producer, Dangote Cement. He owns 85% of his company, with a net worth of $13.5 Billion.
Second on the list is Abdulsamad Rabiu, with a net worth of $7.9 billion. He is the founder of BUA Group, a company involved in cement production, sugar refining, and real estate.
The 61-year-old Kano-born businessman started his business importing iron, steel, and chemicals, he also inherited land from his father, a successful businessman.
Mike Adenuga is third on the list of the richest men in Nigeria, with a net worth of $6.3 billion. He owns Globacom, a mobile phone network in the country. The network is the third-largest operator in Nigeria. He also owns Conoil Producing, an oil exportation business.
Fourth on the Nigerian wealthy men’s Forbes list is Arthur Eze, the CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, one of the largest privately-held oil exploration and production companies in Nigeria. In 1992, he founded Triax Airlines following the deregulation of airlines in Nigeria.
The 74-year-old billionaire owns two private jets, 5 Rolls-Royce, and 7 Maybachs.
Number five on the list, is the former Governor of Abia state, a sitting senator of Abia North Senatorial District, and the Chief Whip of the House of Senate in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Orji Uzor Kalu.
Kalu is both a businessman and an astute politician. He is the CEO of SLOK Holding, a company with investments in banking, shipping, manufacturing, oil trading, and media.
A businessman from the Southeast, Cletus Ibeto is sixth on Nigeria’s list of wealthy men. He is the founder and chairman of Ibeto Group. His company deals in Cement, energy, and automotive parts production. His net worth of $3.8 billion ranks him as one of the top billionaires in Nigeria.
Seventh on the list is Anambra-born businessman, Emeka Offor. He is a successful businessman and oil and energy tycoon. He is the founder and chair of The Chrome Group, an oil exploration firm with headquarters in Abuja.
Another business mogul, Femi Otedola is number eight on the list with a net worth of $2.7 billion. He is a well-known CEO, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the father of a famous Nigerian disc Jockey; DJ Cuppy.
Femi Otedola was born in the family of Sir Michael Otedola and Lady Doja on the 4th of November 1962 in Ibadan, Nigeria. His father served as governor of Lagos State from 1992 to 1993. He studied at Obafemi Awolowo University from 1980 to 1985.
Number 9 on the list is the 2011 Senator of Anambra South Senatorial District. He started his political career back in college, and his major source of wealth is politics. His current net worth is $2.1 Billion.
The tenth on the list is Benedict Peters whose net worth is estimated at $2 billion. He is the CEO of Aiteo, Nigeria’s largest indigenous oil producing firm.
Other wealthy men in Nigeria are Tony Elumelu, Obi Cubana, and others. However, they do not make it to the list of Forbes’ top 10 wealthiest in Nigeria.
