In a move to support the welfare of civil servants, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has introduced a new off-duty policy that allows civil servants on Grade Levels 01-14 to take two days off each week. For those on Grade Levels 15-17, the policy grants one day off per week. The announcement was made by the State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, on Wednesday, September 12.
Onasanya explained that this initiative is designed to ease the growing burdens faced by workers, particularly the challenges associated with commuting. He emphasized that the policy is expected to offer significant relief to employees while boosting service delivery by fostering a more motivated and energized workforce.
Highlighting Governor Abiodun’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of state workers, Onasanya urged all accounting officers to implement the policy across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies without compromising the quality of services provided.
He also recalled that Governor Abiodun had initially rolled out a one-day-off work policy for all grade levels in July 2023. The recent extension to two days off per week for Grade Levels 01-14 aims to further reduce financial strain and enhance productivity among the workforce.
