President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the recent flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State, which has displaced thousands and disrupted key infrastructure, including the Post Office and Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
The President’s sentiments were conveyed through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, on Tuesday, September 10. Tinubu described the flooding as the worst in decades and extended his heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Borno State, especially to families who have lost their livelihoods due to the overflow of the Alau Dam.
As damage assessments continue, the President has urged for the immediate evacuation of residents from the affected areas. He assured Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate with state authorities to meet the urgent humanitarian needs caused by the disaster.
President Tinubu has also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide necessary aid to the flood victims. He reaffirmed his commitment to deploying federal resources to support Borno State during this difficult time.
