Ebonyi State traders on Tuesday, 12 July, lamented the loss of goods worth millions, damaged by a fire outbreak that razed a section of the popular Eke Market Afikpo.
According to PUNCH, the fire occurred in the late hours of Tuesday, and some goods worth millions of naira were destroyed by the inferno. But no life was lost.
As the fire outbreak raged, traders who were caught up by surprise made efforts to salvage their goods without success, because of its intensity.
Efforts to put out the fire by the Ebonyi State Fire Service Station in Afikpo Council Area failed.
However, youths in the area mobilized and stopped the fire from spreading.

“As long as there is life, there is hope. Don’t lose hope or give up because of this, you shall all overcome this setback,” she added.
The council head was taken around the scene of the fire by the Chairman of Afikpo Market Traders Association, Mr. Johnson Oka.
According to Oka, many traders lost everything to the inferno.
