A 15-year-old girl, who was abducted, drugged and raped by four men in the Igando area of Lagos State, has been found.
She was found on Friday, July 15, five days after she went missing and a search party was raised by her family.
The victim’s father, Tony, said his daughter had just finished sitting her West African Senior Secondary School Examination (WASSCE), and was on her way to church when she was abducted.
He said the victim was going to the St. John Catholic church, Igando area of Lagos state, when four men in a Toyota Camry, who pretended to give her a lift, drove her away.
Tony stated that the 15-year-old girl was in the company of her siblings when the incident happened.
He said, “My children were on their way to church when a car approached them.
“I was told that there were four men in the car, including the driver.
“After my children had greeted the men, the men asked them where they were going to, and my children told them they were heading to church.
“The men offered my children a lift, and lied that they were also heading in the same direction.
“However, after one of my children (the victim) entered the car, the men sped off and her other siblings started crying for help.
“Immediately, they wound up the glass, and even when she was shouting for help, nobody could hear her.
“After searching for my daughter for 48 hours, I reported the case at the Ikotun police station and the search for her continued.
“We posted her picture on different WhatsApp groups until a church member saw the post on Friday, July 15, and sent us the number plate of the car that was used to abduct my daughter.
“The church member said he saw my daughter when my she entered the car, and he immediately wrote down the number plate of the car, but he had no idea that she was abducted.
“The church member added that he saw the street where the car entered, and he gave us the address to the place.
“Afterwards, myself and a group of friends and family members went to the street, precisely in Aiye Omere, Igando area of Lagos state.
“When we got there, we saw the car that was seen on the day my daughter was kidnapped. Also, we saw where my daughter was kept, drugged and was being raped by the four men from Monday, July 11 till Friday, July 15.
“My daughter was no longer herself when we found her.
“The only thing she was able to tell her mother was that the men kept drugging and raping her since the day she was kidnapped, and whenever they were going out, the men would drug her and then she would fall asleep until they returned,” Tony added.
The victim’s father further noted that one of the four men was identified as Ifeanyi, adding that the police arrested some of the culprits.
He noted that a classmate of the 15-year-old girl who lived on the street where she was violated was also arrested, according to The Punch.
Tony said, “After we found my daughter, we took her to the Igando general hospital so she could be examined, but she was rejected.
“The doctors asked us to come back on Monday, July 18, but a family member told us to go to Mirabel Centre at Ikeja, and not wait till Monday.
“I want justice for my daughter. I want all those involved in the abduction, drugging and raping of my daughter to be punished for the violence they committed against her,” he added.
The state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the incident, said, “A case of abduction of a 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped, drugged and raped was transferred from the Ikotun police station to the gender unit at the state police headquarters.
“It is true that we have arrested some of the culprits, however, the outcome of the investigation will determine the next line of action,” he added.
