Four persons have been confirmed dead in an accident that occurred on Tuesday morning, July 26, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
A Mazda bus, marked YYY412XB, was said to have crashed into an unregistered moving truck in the early hours of Tuesday, July 26.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun state command, while confirming the auto crash, said the fatal crash occurred at about 6:25 am, before the Iperu bridge in Ogun state.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Ogun state, Florence Okpe, ten persons were involved in the crash, including four male adults, five female adults and one male child.
Okpe disclosed that five women and one man were injured as a result of the crash, which took the lives of two male adults, one female adult and one male child.
“The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and light sign violation,” Okpe said.
“The Mazda bus driver, who was on high speed, crashed into the moving truck from behind due to light defect on the truck, that is, the truck rear lights made to signal vehicles from behind could not function,” he added.
She further noted that the injured victims have been taken to Victory hospital, Ogere region of the state, while the bodies were deposited at Ipara morgue, Daily Post reports.
Meanwhile, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun state, Ahmed Umar, has advised motorists to fix the necessary requirements in their vehicles before any trip, cautioning them on speed violation.
He also sympathized with the families of the victims, advising them to contact the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogere region of the state for more information about the crash.
