Kenya Airways will commence daily flights to Nigeria as part of an initiative to open up Kenya to the globe, the acting Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Samuel Mogere has announced.
Mogere said this on Wednesday, February 7, in Abuja, stating that facilitating stress-free and daily travel from Nigeria to Kenya was a crucial step in this process.
Currently, Kenyan Airways operates four weekly flights between its hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The direct flights to Abuja occurred on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Additionally, the high commissioner shared that the Kenyan government has introduced an online e-visa application process, enabling individuals to apply and obtain visas for travel to Kenya.

“We work toward implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area to help usher in the kind of deep reforms necessary to enhance long-term growth in Kenya and Africa at large.
“Our legal system is extremely efficient. The belief of Kenya’s presidential agenda is one Africa, one people. Pan Africa is the top agenda of our president. This has actually opened lots of free entries to Kenya,’’ he said.
Kenya Airways is the second-largest airline in East Africa, serving about 41 international destinations in 35 countries.
The Government of Kenya owned the airline until April 1995 when it was privatized in 1996, becoming the first African flag carrier to successfully do so.
In January, the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority announced that it would not permit any Kenya Airways flights from Nairobi to land in Dar es Salaam, the country’s capital.
According to the Tanzanian regulator, the decision to prevent the flights comes in retaliation to a move by Kenya to not allow any all-cargo flights operated by Air Tanzania to land in Nairobi.
The airline has now announced that it has entered into a codeshare agreement with Spain’s Air Europa.
The collaboration, aimed at providing passengers traveling to and from East Africa, will seek to enhance access to a broader range of destinations in Europe and the United States.
